What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We offer competitive pricing for our services. We are top-notch professionals with many years of experience in all aspects of the landscaping industry. For large, multifaceted projects we work contractually with you and request a percentage of the fees upon signing and the balance to be determined as the project progresses. For smaller projects, we request payment at the conclusion of the job.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We first talk on the phone, set an appointment, and meet to get related and learn about what their goals are and what they want to accomplish. We then create a plan to work together based on the customer's timeline and budget.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have two degrees from Portland Community College in Landscaping Design and Landscape Technology and have been an active Master Gardener through OSU's Extension for the past nine years and a certified permaculturist. I focus on providing native plants as one part of my planting palette. I am part of a family of seventh generation landscapers, growers and horticulturists.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started working with plants alongside my grandparents, where I learned about color and design, and after working in business for many years, I finally started to do what I love best in the landscaping industry--and to work for myself.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I've worked with all kinds of customers, from installing townhouse container gardens to residential homes and estates.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We installed a new garden in a large backyard. I worked with the client and a designer who created 3D drawings so the customer could visualize the completed project. I selected perennials, shrubs and trees for the garden and scouted the entire property for boulders to install in the garden. We scalped the lawn with a backhoe, installed a large water feature, created the curved garden beds and planted. From beginning to end the entire project was installed in three weeks.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Meet the provider in person and notice the communication between you. Can they be a team player and collaborate with you? What is possible that you might not have seen before regarding your project before meeting with your provider? Does the provider understand what you want, and are they qualified to do the work that you would like? Do they have a reliable crew who works together frequently and is dependable?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Look and see what you want to accomplish and look at projects online to get ideas and price materials. How do you visualize that your yard will look after your project is completed? Do you want an outdoor room for entertaining, an outdoor kitchen, a water feature or pond? A sports or play area? What is realistic for your budget?
